MARTIN COUNTY — Faith Caldwell and Paige Stafford are the Kirk & Crum Law Office Players of the Week.
Caldwell turned in a monster four-game stretch for the unbeaten Lady Cardinals volleyball team. She totaled 14 goals, 15 assists and 43 points.
Caldwell recorded two goals and six assists in a 10-0 win at Prestonsburg, exploded for five goals and three assists in a 9-1 mercy-rule victory over district rival Johnson Central, and followed with four goals and four assists in an 8-0 shutout of East Carter. She capped the week with a hat trick and two assists in an 8-0 win over Belfry.
Caldwell had a hand in 29 goals across the four victories.
Paige Stafford put together a standout week for the Martin County Middle School girls basketball team. She averaged 20.5 points over four A-team games and scorched the nets for seven triples in a home win.
Stafford scored 21 points in a 46-18 win over Salyersville, then erupted for 27 points and seven 3-pointers in a 45-14 victory over Betsy Layne. She followed with 21 points against Phelps at the Cassidy Rowe-Roberts Classic, where she was named Player of the Game, before adding 13 points in a narrow 28-24 loss to Pikeville.
Stafford totaled 82 points over the four-game stretch while helping MCMS post a 3-1 record.
