KSP arrests Pikeville man after meth, fentanyl seizure

PIKEVILLE — Kentucky State Police arrested a Pikeville man Sunday after troopers said they found a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl and pressed fentanyl tablets during an ongoing drug investigation.

Troopers with KSP Post 9’s Street Crimes Unit were attempting to locate William Cody West, 45, of Pikeville, on Aug. 17 as part of the investigation.

Police located West in the parking lot of the Scholar House apartments in downtown Pikeville and took him into custody.

According to KSP, West had approximately 1.1 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and approximately 2 grams of suspected fentanyl in his possession. Troopers also seized 20 suspected pressed fentanyl tablets and drug paraphernalia from his vehicle.

West was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said he also had several unrelated arrest warrants.

KSP Post 9 asks anyone with information about illegal drug activity to call investigators at 606-433-7711. Callers may remain anonymous.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
