Larry Fluty Obituary

Larry Fluty

1976—2022

Larry Fluty was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and son whose heart knew no limits of compassion. He would help anyone in need. He took pride in his truck and winch and how many people he was able to help. He also was never seen without his faithful cap and jaw full of red seal.

Larry’s time here with us ended Sept. 4, 2022, at UK Medical Center at 12:35 a.m. He fought a long, hard battle with his heart that he couldn’t fight anymore.

Larry was raised on Big Branch in Martin County by Richard and Ruth Fluty. He was born March 15, 1976.

From the earliest age he never backed down from a challenge, whether it was fixing a bicycle wheel or trying to play Superman from the barn loft. It was always clear that he would be full of a rebellious spirit. He loved to work on old Chevys and didn’t quit until he had them going. He also enjoyed spending the day with his dad fishing or helping his mom in the garden. Those were his top priorities. He deeply loved his parents and was grateful beyond words for them.

He was a man of faith that always had a song in his heart, even if it was one he made up himself. He held firm in all his beliefs and didn’t mind stepping on toes when sharing. He also loved to ride his Harley or spend the day fishing on the lake.

Larry was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He leaves behind four children, Tanner (Hayley) Fluty, Savannah Fluty, Sydney Fluty and Elijah Fluty; two stepsons, Samuel Sturgill and Ethan Sturgill; and a granddaughter, Maci Fluty. They were absolutely the light of his life. No matter what or when the children needed him, he never failed to be there for them. In true fashion to his character, he spent his last days before being ill doing drywall for his stepson and helping plan the company family outing. These acts of kindness are truly what made Larry Fluty so amazing. He also leaves behind three beloved dogs who meant the world to him.

Larry also leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 10 years, Erika Fluty. During their 10-year marriage there wasn’t a day that they didn’t love one another more than either ever thought was ever possible. Their love is one that people only dream they can find. He also leaves behind two brothers, Tommy and Debbie Fluty, Roger and Lorie Fluty; a sister, Christina Fluty, who he treasured daily; two special nephews, Matthew Fluty and Dillion Fluty, and a niece, Cortina Mahon, who he thought of as brothers and a sister; as well as several nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. His life was a life full of fun, laughter and love. He will be deeply missed by so many.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at the Callaham Funeral Home in Inez, with Dale Crum and Josh Muncy officiating. Burial will follow at the Family Cemetery on Little Blaine in Louisa. Friends may visit the funeral home Tuesday and Wednesday 6-9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home of Inez.
