William ‘Blondie’ Muncy

1943—2022

William “Blondie” Muncy, 78, of Warfield, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, at the Highlands ARH Hospital in Prestonsburg.

Born Dec. 5, 1943, in Kentucky, he was the son of the late Columbus and Laudie Moore Muncy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings Grover Muncy, Columbus “Junior” Muncy, Orel “Tootsie” Muncy and Eugene Muncy, and great-grandson Parker Ray Smith.

Blondie was a coal miner for 30 years and retired from Wolf Creek Collieries. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Lenore, W.Va. He loved to ride his jeep in the hills, tinker in his garage, watch westerns on TV, and he was always the first in line to eat and never turned down sweets.

Blondie is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mabel Muncy; children Claudia (Earl) Cook of Inez, Vanessa Muncy Crum of Van Lear, Michelle Muncy of Lovely, Phillip Muncy of Kermit, W.Va., and Prentice Muncy of Lowmansville. He is also survived by grandchildren Caiden Dillon, Keon Muncy, Kendrick Marcum, Kendra Smith, Courtland Cook, Joshua Loredo; great-granddaughter Karoline Smith; sister Nellie Muncy; brother James “Bear” Muncy; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful sidekick and companion, Chynna Pug.

He will be tremendously be missed by his family and friends but most of all by the love of his life, his little Poo Poo, Chynna. The family will be providing masks to those who wish to wear them.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at the Fellowship Baptist Church, with Pastor Don Stroud officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mullins Family Funeral Home, Warfield, and noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow in the family cemetery in Kermit, W.Va. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
