INEZ — A Lovely man was arrested July 11 after police responding to a reported fight said he admitted drinking before driving.

Christopher Arthur Scott, 20, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.

Kentucky State Police Post 9 Troopers S. Hammond and Kidd responded to a report of a possible fight in the Turkey Creek area in Inez. Before they arrived, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office encountered Scott as he was allegedly attempting to leave the scene.

Sheriff John Kirk advised that his office would investigate the fight complaint, according to the police report.

The troopers said they encountered Scott at the scene near the intersection of Harvey Horn Road and Turkey Creek.

Scott allegedly told troopers he had attempted to break up a fight between two people and was pushed into the side of a camper, causing a small cut to the back of his head. He reportedly said he had drunk several beers.

Troopers administered standardized field sobriety tests and a roadside preliminary breath test and noted that Scott’s blood alcohol concentration was .147.

Law enforcement transported Scott to an area hospital for medical clearance before lodging him at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
