Freddie Maynard
1952—2026

Freddie Maynard, age 73, of Ulysses, passed away July 5, 2026, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Born Dec. 23, 1952, in Ocala, Florida, he was the son of the late Epson and Lucy (Nichols) Maynard.

Freddie was a member of the Apple Orchard Old Regular Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, W.F. Maynard, Elwood Maynard, Paul Maynard and Randal Maynard and one sister, Lois Bennett.

Freddie is survived by his wife, Darlene (Osborne) Maynard of Ulysses; one son, Freddie Allen (Christy) Maynard of Pike County; two stepsons, John Phillip “JJ” (Regina) Hale of Ulysses and Dustin Bradley (Kayla) Hale of Inez; and four sisters, Irene Johnson of Summerfield, Florida, Pauline Lowery of Pedro, Florida, Doris (Amos) Hatfield of Belleview, Florida, and Beatrice Blackburn of Dandridge, Tennessee. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Hope (Cameron) Harmon, Brenton Allen (Cassie) Maynard, Bradley (Emilee) Hale, Madison (Chase) Muncy, Katelyn Hale, Dillon Hale and Kenna Hale; six great-grandchildren, Carson Harmon, Cason Harmon, Ella Maynard, Opal Maynard, Eli Allen Maynard and Braylon Muncy; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. 

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Crum Funeral Home in Inez with Richard Staton and the Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Louisa. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday, July 8, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a special church service beginning at 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
