James ‘Jim’ R. Dingess
1958—2026

James “Jim” R. Dingess, 67, of Crum, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Cabell Huntington Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Oct. 13, 1958, in Griffithsville, he was the son of the late Buster and Marjorie “Virginia” Dingess.

Jim was educated in the Griffithsville public schools and graduated from Duval High School. He was a master electrician and worked for the Marrowbone Development Company for many years.

Jim enjoyed hunting, gardening, and spending time on his family property in Griffithsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Dingess and Frederick Dingess, and a dear nephew, Shannon Dingess. Jim was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 36 years, Maxine Dingess.

Jim is survived by his loving step-daughter, Kimberly Raines and her husband, Eric Beaudry, of Derry, New Hampshire. He is also survived by three sisters: Mary (Chester) Alford of Sod, Linda McDonald of Harrisville and Joyce Marcum of Milton. Additional survivors include his niece, Candace Kirk, of Noblesville, Indiana; his in-laws, Irene and Claude Marcum of Crum, Van Marcum of Kermit, Ray Marcum of Louisa, Kentucky, and Leonard Ray and Hilda Marcum of Crum, along with several other nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield, Kentucky, with David Brewer officiating. Burial followed at Perry Point Cemetery in Crum, under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.
