INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Douglas Chapman, 39, of Inez, was arrested Monday in Warfield on a bench warrant for failure to appear. Deputy David Adams made the arrest.
Ruby Ann Preece, 32, of Lovely, was arrested Sunday on Route 1714 in Lovely for public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol), fleeing or evading police, escape, theft by unlawful taking or disposition/all others under $500. Constable Brad Preece arrested Preece after being called to assist deputies. He put Preece in the back of the cruiser and rolled the window down halfway. While the constable was talking with the other officers, the suspect allegedly reached through the open window, opened the door and took off on foot. The officer said she slipped out of the handcuffs and threw them over the hill.
Jeremy Ray Maynard, 39, of Lovely, was arrested Saturday on Route 1714 in Lovely for drug paraphernalia-buy/possession and a bench warrant. Deputy John C. Kirk observed Maynard walking on the edge of the roadway in a camo jacked. The officer stopped to talk to him and recognized him as a suspected wanted on a bench warrant. Maynard allegedly admitted to having meth residue in a baggie.
Christopher Lee Maynard, 39, of Lovely, was arrested Saturday on Route 1714 in Lovely for alcohol intoxication in a public place. Maynard was at the scene of a physical altercation when Deputy Kirk observed the suspect had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, was having trouble standing up and had slurred speech.
Christopher W. Ratliff, 42, of Louisa, was arrested Friday on Spence Branch in Tomahawk for all-terrain vehicle violations, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, fleeing or evading police, operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license and first-degree criminal mischief. Ratliff allegedly fled when Deputy Adams attempted to make a traffic stop. The chase allegedly led to a strip-mine road that dead-ended at a locked gate, where Ratliff turned around and crashed his ATV into Adams’ police cruiser. The officer reported the battery fell out of the ATV, shutting it off, and Ratliff was arrested with no further incident.
Jeremy Tyler Jude, 26, of Tomahawk, was arrested Thursday in Tomahawk on a bench warrant for failure to appear in court. Adams made the arrest.
Jeremy Harmon, 41, Warfield, was arrested Thursday at Riverside Apartments in Warfield for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) minor injury, second-degree strangulation, violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO, and contempt of court libel/slander resistance to order. Harmon was arrested just after 6 p.m. when officers investigated a complaint of a domestic at apartment 5. The victim Cora White allegedly advised police that she and Harmon argued, and Harmon became physical, punching, hitting and strangling her. Harmon reportedly had left the scene and gone to apartment 12 to try to hide. According to the arresting officer, Deputy Adams, White had red places on her neck, arms and legs.
Roseanna Bowen, 27, of Inez, was arrested Thursday in Warfield on a warrant for court. Deputy Kirk made the arrest.
David L. Smith, 34, of Beauty, was arrested on a warrant Thursday in Beauty for receiving stolen property $1,000-$10,000. Deputy Chris Kidd made the arrest.
Mary Setser, 51, of Inez, was arrested Aug. 24 for public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol) and second-degree disorderly conduct. Kidd made the arrest.
Sally Carter, 57, unknown address, was arrested Aug. 23 in Warfield for public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol). Deputy Adams responded to a complaint about a woman possibly under the influence and trying to pole dance. The caller advised that Carter had gone to Callaham Funeral Home and passed out on the porch. Adams found Carter slumped over on the porch asleep. According to the police report, Carter was “getting worse during transport after being placed under arrest,” and per Judge John Chafin, was cited and released to go to the hospital due to impairment.
April Nicole Hickman, aka April Nicole Howell, 35, of Inez, was arrested Aug. 23 in Lovely for public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol), no registration plates, no registration receipt, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, failure to produce insurance card and falsely reporting an incident. According to the police report, Deputy Adams responded to a wreck on North Wolf Creek Road, where Hickman told the officer that Jeremy Maynard had stolen her car and wrecked it. Hickman stated that she watched the vehicle pull out from Pigeon Roost traveling toward Lovely when it crashed and went over the hill, and she was not in the vehicle. After the officer observed a bruise on the left side of Hickman’s neck and confronted her, she allegedly changed her story, saying she was in the vehicle when it crashed but was not driving.
