INEZ — A collision involving a FedEx truck and three other vehicles shut down KY 40 on Buck Creek Mountain for several hours Friday evening, forcing traffic to detour through KY 2032.

According to preliminary reports, the FedEx truck was traveling westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lane and struck three vehicles.

The FedEx driver and one other person were transported from the scene by Rapid EMS with minor to moderate injuries.

Among those injured was Sheena Copley of Inez, who said the crash occurred in a curve near the top of the mountain.

“We were going up Buck Creek, and the FedEx truck was coming down the hill,” Copley said. “He clipped the mirror off the red truck in front of me. As soon as he clipped that one, he was coming towards me. He hit me in the side and knocked me into the hillside. The car behind me hit me in the back.”

Copley said she does not remember what happened immediately after the impact.

Emergency responders closed the highway while crews cleared the scene and investigated the crash.
