MOUTHCARD — A Pike County man was arrested Monday after Kentucky State Police said he fled the scene of a crash, leaving four juveniles inside the wrecked vehicle.
Troopers responded to South River Road in the Mouthcard community after receiving a 911 call reporting a single-vehicle collision.
According to Kentucky State Police, the vehicle was occupied by four juvenile passengers at the time of the crash. Investigators said the driver, identified as Ryan Wilson, 37, of Maxie, Virginia, left the scene on foot after the collision, abandoning the juveniles.
One of the juveniles walked to a nearby business and asked for help calling 911, according to police.
Troopers later located Wilson about 1.5 miles from the crash scene.
Following an investigation, Wilson was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center. He is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, endangering the welfare of a minor and license to be in possession.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Braxton Whitmore is leading the investigation. Additional KSP personnel and local first responders assisted at the scene.
All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
