
Lillie Mae Sturgell Sears
1940—2026
Lillie Mae Sturgell Sears, 85, of Stepptown, West Virginia, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born July 18, 1940, on Marrowbone Creek, she was the daughter of the late Rupert and Grace Sturgell.
Lillie was a loving mother and grandmother and a faithful member of the Independent Holiness Church of God of Williams Branch. She loved her family dearly, and it was her heart’s desire to see them all get saved and be ready to meet the Lord. She also loved her little dog Gracie, who has been a faithful companion over the years.
Lillie loved making quilts and going to flea markets.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and will always be in our hearts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia C. Jude; son, Wesley Randall Sears; son-in-law, James Paul “Buck” Meade; brother, Archie W. Sturgell; and sister, Imogene Cooper.
She is survived by her two daughters, Denise Sturgell Meade of Stepptown and Faith Kathleen Sears (Lloyd) Alley of Hode, Kentucky; grandsons Jason (Julie) Sturgell of Louisa, Kentucky, and Joshua (Kristin) Sears of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania; granddaughter Kayla (Jacob) Hunter of Huntington; great-grandsons Blake Sturgell of Fort Gay and Bryson Sears of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania; and great-granddaughter Sara Sturgell of Louisa Kentucky. She is also survived by her brother, Larry (Ruth) Sturgell of Vandalia, Ohio; three sisters, Colleen (Woodrow) Perry of Moyock, North Carolina, Ruth (Leon) Michaud of Virginia, and Geraldine Lude of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield, Kentucky, with Lloyd Alley officiating. Friends may visit at the Chapel on Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.
