Martin County Middle celebrates 11-7 win over Eagles on Eighth Grade Night

INEZ Martin County Middle School celebrated Eighth Grade Night with an 11-7 victory over Johnson Central Middle School on May 11 in Inez.

The Cardinals came out swinging early and never trailed after building momentum through the first three innings.

Martin County held a 3-2 lead at the end of the first inning after Blaine Williams, Mayson Phillips and Ryder Little each crossed the plate.

The Cardinals extended the advantage to 7-3 in the second inning. Brock Fields, Kooper Sturgill, Williams and Phillips all scored during the frame as Martin County continued to apply offensive pressure.

Martin County added four more runs in the third inning to push the lead to 11-7. Davis Wilson, Sturgill, Williams and Phillips each scored in the inning.

The score held the rest of the way and stood as the final after five innings.

Williams led the Cardinals with three runs scored. Sturgill, Phillips and Little each scored twice, while Fields and Wilson added one run apiece.
