INEZ — Residents and staff at the Martin County Health Care Facility turned back the clock to a world of sweet treats and childhood memories as they celebrated National Nursing Home Week with a Candyland-themed week full of games, music and laughter.

The facility transformed ordinary days into a colorful celebration packed with activities that brought smiles to residents throughout the week. An ice cream truck rolled onto the grounds to serve frozen treats. At the same time, residents enjoyed fresh-spun cotton candy and old-fashioned schoolhouse candy that reminded many residents of earlier days.
Residents also cooled off with fresh sno-cones and joined in a live Candyland game that filled the halls with friendly competition and plenty of laughter.

Music added another layer to the celebration as singer Ladonna May visited the facility and performed for residents and guests.
The fun continued with a candy-filled piñata that drew excitement from residents and staff alike.

While the decorations and treats created a festive atmosphere, organizers said the week centered on something even more important — celebrating the residents who call the nursing home and the staff members who care for them each day.

“Above all, we laughed and had fun celebrating our nursing home,” organizers said.
