INEZ — The Lady Cardinals bounced back from a difficult senior night loss with a road victory Monday evening. Martin County honored its senior class and eighth grader before falling to Pike County Central Hawks 17-1 in four innings May 8 in Inez. The Lady Cards responded three days later with an 8-6 win over Fairview Eagles.
Against Pike County Central, Martin County managed two hits in the shortened contest. Haley Robinson went 1-for-2 at the plate. Mia Fields also finished 1-for-2 with a single.
Tessa Gantt scored the Lady Cardinals’ lone run and added a stolen base. Hallee Preece, Raegan Horn, Sophie Harless and Alyssa Mullins each drew walks in the game.
Mullins pitched all four innings for Martin County, striking out three batters while allowing 10 hits and 17 runs.
The Lady Cardinals rebounded Monday night with a win against Fairview.
Eighth grader Makenna Marcum led the way, going 2-for-3 with two singles, two runs scored, one RBI and a walk. Haley Robinson finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Freshman Brianna Muncy reached base four times, going 2-for-2 with two singles and two walks. Bella Muncy went 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI, while Sophie Harless finished 1-for-4 with a single.

Mullins went 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBIs. Raegan Horn finished 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Mullins also earned the complete-game win in the circle, striking out three batters while allowing only two earned runs as Martin County secured the 8-6 victory.
The Lady Cards were scheduled to play Johnson Central at home May 12. They host the Hornets for a rematch May 13 at 6 p.m. Martin County will finish out the regular season with a double-header at Phelps, May 14 and Betsy Layne, May 15.
