Voter turnout was very low for the Primary Election in Mingo County on Tuesday, May 12.
According to one report only about 12% of the registered voters came out to vote in the off-year election.
Mingo County has 28 precincts, whittled down from years past.
The following is a list of the unofficial final vote totals in Mingo County’s 2026 May Primary election.
Mingo County Commission:
- Nathan Brown, Republican — 663 votes; and
- Matthew Deskins, Republican — 421 votes
There were no Democratic candidates running for the office.
Mingo County Board of Education:
(Four elected, Nonpartisan)
- Deanna Wellman — 895 votes;
- Sabrina Rose Grace — 835 votes;
- Jade Fallon Brumfield — 584 votes;
- Ashley Hatfield — 525 votes;
- Justin Kirk — 864 votes;
- Eric Jerome Roberts — 754 votes: and
- Rae Siggers — 574 votes.
NOTE: Wellman, Grace and Kirk won three seats for full terms. Roberts will finish Braydan Goff’s term, as Goff had resigned to run for the House of Delegates.
Conservation District Supervisor:
Helen Ann Stanley (running unopposed) — 1,214 votes.
Democrat County Executive Committee:
- Kermit Harvey District (female): no candidate filings;
- Kermit Harvey District (male): Johnny Nick Hager — 115 votes;
- Lee District (female): Wendy Coleman — 93 votes:
- Lee District (male): no candidate filings;
- Magnolia District (female): no candidate filings;
- Magnolia District (male): Larry “Yogi” Croaff — 81 votes;
- Stafford District (female): no candidate filings;
- Stafford District (male): no candidate filings;
- Williamson District (female): Lisa Kae Smith — 163 votes; and
- Williamson District (male): Darrin McCormick — 150 votes.
Republican County Executive Committee:
- Kermit Harvey District (female): Brandy Brown 93 votes; and Sonya Ward — 68 votes;
- Kermit Harvey District (male): Nathan Brown — 123 votes; and Shawn Murphy — 74 votes.
- Lee District (female): Beulah Vance — 220 votes;
- Lee District (male): Brayden Rodney Goff — 241 votes;
- Magnolia District (female): Kelsey Cisco — 185 votes;
- Magnolia District (male): Kelly Michael Cisco — 186 votes;
- Stafford District (female): Debbie Dean — 142 votes;
- Stafford District (male): Daniel Dean — 141 votes;
- Williamson District (female): Nikki Anderson — 38 votes; Leigh Ann Ray — 110 votes; and
- Williamson District (male): Lonnie Hannah — 94 votes; and Clark Napier 78 votes.
6th Senatorial District — Mingo County results only:
- Mark Mayard, Republican — 840 votes;
- Jeff Disibbio, Republican — 73 votes;
- Eric Porterfield, Republican — 69 votes;
- Edwin Ray Vanover, Republican — 53 votes.
- Joshua Hamby, Democrat — 299 votes;
- Wyatt Lilly, Democrat — 219 votes.

Federal races:
In the U.S. Senate race, Shelley Moore Capito, the Republican, won the nomination.
