INEZ — A field trip to the Martin County Fiscal Court turned into a memorable honor for Warfield kindergarten students April 17. They led the Pledge of Allegiance, received a county proclamation and earned a standing ovation from those in attendance.

During the special meeting Martin County Judge/Executive Lon Lafferty read a proclamation declaring April 17, 2026, as “Warfield Kindergarten Students, Parents, Teachers and Principal Appreciation Day in Martin County.”
The proclamation praised the students for their hard work in the classroom and their growth as young citizens.

It also recognized Warfield Elementary Principal Jessica Jewell, along with Ms. Miranda Moore, Ms. Lindsy Muncy, Ms. Jennifer Gullett, Ms. Jody Hammonds, Ms. Sheila Brewer and Ms. Erica Bowen, for their work educating the students and, as the proclamation stated, “daily showing you love.”
After the proclamation, Fiscal Court members and others in attendance rose for a standing ovation in honor of the class.
“We’re so very proud of you all and the work that you’ve done this year,” Lafferty told the students. “We’re glad to see you here today, and we want to invite you back year after year.”
