INEZ – Members of the Lady Cards softball team are keeping themselves busy in the offseason.
Zoie Hinkle and Kaylee Endicott attended a three-day softball prospect camp at the University of Kentucky. Endicott went as Hinkle’s catcher behind the plate.
They were able to meet with Rachel Lawson, the head coach of the Wildcats.
Kelian Jewell attended a two-day camp at Eastern Kentucky University with Hinkle two weeks ago.
Hinkle also traveled to Marshall University for a prospect camp.
During the camps, the Lady Cards participated in fielding, hitting and pitching drills. They played exhibition games against some of the top players in the nation. Attendees ranged from Florida to California.
At EKU, Hinkle pitched three innings during an exhibition without giving up a run and three strikeouts. At the plate, she went 2-4. She also hit an inside-the-park home run at UK.
Hinkle is also on a travel ball team, the Bluegrass Blaze, with Sophie Harless and Bella Muncy. Two weeks ago, the team traveled to Williamsburg and placed second in their tournament.
Hinkle pitched four games with a 2-2 record.
Their losses came to the eventual tourney champ.
