GREENUP — Martin County (1-1) lost a 43-6 contest on the road Friday to Greenup County (1-1).

Starting quarterback Weston Jude was injured before the half and the Cards couldn’t recover.

The team had their worse week of practice this season due to COVID making its way around, and Coach Josh Muncy didn’t feel like the team was ready Friday.

“We didn’t get off the bus,” Muncy said. “We had a lot of guys out due to sickness, and I didn’t feel like we were very prepared.”

Jude pulled some muscles in his lower back and was out for most of the game. He is expected to return by Friday night’s contest at Fleming County.

“We played our backup QB. He’s a freshman and we just didn’t have him ready yet,” said Muncy.
