
Edna Mae (Maynard) Howell
1936—2026
Edna Mae (Maynard) Howell, 89, of Pilgrim, passed away April 7, 2026, at Jordan Healthcare Rehabilitation in Louisa.
Born Sept. 28, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Clay Maynard and Laura Harmon Maynard.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dennie Howell; three brothers, Howard Maynard, Clay Maynard and Homer Maynard; four sisters, Louise Kilgore, Fannie Jude, Barb Whitman and Nola Antle.
Edna is survived by two sons, Donnie (Paula) Howell of Coldwater and Michael (Susie) Howell of Chapmanville, West Virginia; one daughter, Carolyn (Dewey) Delong of Pilgrim; one sister, Columbia Kilgore of Jacksonville, Florida; four grandchildren, Steven Howell, Olivia Howell, Ethan Delong (Ashley) and Michaela Trent (Brian); four great-grandchildren, Harper Howell, Jace Howell, Nora Delong and Scarlett Delong; and a very special niece Sheila Chafin.
Edna was blessed with excellent caregivers, Debbie Small, Kathy Endicott, Cora Stanley, Linda Preece and Heather Cooper. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at the Jordan Center and the Fresenius Dialysis Center for their compassionate care.
Edna’s biggest joys in life were her family, church and cooking. She was a member of Union United Baptist Church of Emily Creek.
Edna will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 10, 2026, at Crum Funeral Home in Inez with Terry Harmon officiating. Burial followed at the Howell Family Cemetery in Pilgrim. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home.
