Girls’ Night Out returns May 1 to benefit Tug Valley Recovery Shelter

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — One of the Tug Valley’s most anticipated spring fundraisers returns May 1 as the GFWC-WV Williamson Woman’s Club hosts its annual Girls’ Night Out to benefit the Tug Valley Recovery Shelter.

This year’s event, themed “Once Upon a Cause — A Fairytale Gala,” will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 1, at the Williamson Fire Department.

Organizers encourage guests to dress as their favorite character from any book for an evening built around “imagination and whimsy.”

Girls’ Night Out, now in its 13th year, began in 2012 and paused during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event is a fundraiser for the Tug Valley Recovery Shelter, which has served victims of domestic violence in Mingo and Logan counties and limited areas of Pike County since 1981.

“The recovery shelter is very important to our community,” Woman’s Club President Alisha Toler said. “And this event is especially important to the shelter. We invite everyone to come out and have a good time for a great cause.”

As in past years, the fundraiser will feature dinner, music, a dollar auction and other activities.

Dinner will be provided by Pond Creek ‘Que.

Home Plate Delivery will offer a dirty soda bar, while Thelma Stanley will provide desserts.

“We have worked with all of these vendors before and they do a great job,” Toler said.

Tickets are $35 and are on sale now. For more information, call 606-794-3564. We accept PayPal: [email protected]. Make checks payable to Williamson Woman’s Club.
