Oppy Berneice (Davis) Gore Obituary

Oppy Berneice (Davis) Gore
1939—2026

God called Oppy Berneice (Davis) Gore, 88, to her heavenly home March 14, 2026. She got to see Jesus, whom she had served for most of her life, and she heard the Savior say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Oppy was a gifted musician and singer, and led worship until she was physically unable to do it anymore. She was a member of Living Stone Church of God in Lenore.

Her story began Jan. 8, 1939, on the banks of the Tug Fork River in Mingo County, West Virginia, in the community of Winco Block, when Ran and Gladys Davis gave birth to their daughter.

Oppy was part of a large family with many siblings. Her deceased brothers are James Snyder, Paul Davis and Charles Ed Davis. Oppy also had a sister, Betty Marcum, who is deceased.

Her other siblings who are still with us are brothers Clyde Davis, Wayne Davis and Harold Davis and sisters Hope Newsome and Jonelle Simpkins, all from the Columbus, Ohio, area.

Oppy was a graduate of Lenore High School, and shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, the late Reverend Kenneth Gore, on Aug. 24, 1957.

She and Ken pastored many area churches and ministered until his death in 2021. Their union produced three children, Beverly Carol Workman, Kenneth Dale and Helen Gore, of Lenore, and Patricia Lynn and Mike Bostic of Chattaroy.

As their children grew up, they also saw their family blessed with grandchildren, Tabitha Workman, who is deceased, Brad (Mallissa) Workman of Lenore, Whitney (Randy) Blalock of Belfry, Kentucky, and Chris Gore (Katlyn Keene) and Ryan (Andrea) Gore of Lenore. The next generation saw the addition of great-grandchildren, Brad Workman II, Savannah Workman, Alissa Workman, Bryson Blalock, Tyler Gore and Wayne Gore, who is deceased.

A special thanks goes out to her dear friends, Sharon and Alison Jarvis, whom Oppy loved very much.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at Chattaroy Church of God.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 at the church, with Mike Bostic, Eddie Stepp and Robbie May officiating. Internment will be at Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
