Martin County Middle School students advance to State Science Fair

Martin County Middle School students earn placements at Regional Science & Engineering Fair.

Students from Martin County Middle School (MCMS) recently showcased their scientific research and innovation at the Regional Science & Engineering Fair held Friday on the campus of Big Sandy Community & Technical College in Prestonsburg.

The event brought together middle and high school students from across the region to present their projects and compete in various scientific categories.

MCMS students performed exceptionally well, with four projects earning placements that will advance to the State Science Fair.

Gunner Lowe earned second place in Physics and Astronomy for his project.

The team of Jonah Alley and Brody Jewell received second place in Microbiology.
Liam Ferrell placed second in Chemistry, demonstrating strong scientific research and analysis in his category.

Olivia Maynard had an outstanding performance at the competition, earning first place in Energy: Sustainable Materials and Design. In addition to her category win, Maynard was also awarded Middle School Best of Show, which included a $100 award, and received the prestigious Junior Innovation Award for her project.

All four projects will now move on to represent Martin County Middle School at the State Science Fair.
