SALYERSVILLE  —  The Magoffin County grand jury returned indictments against three individuals Feb. 25. Charges include theft by deception and multiple drug-related offenses.

Mary Collinsworth, 48, of Coon Creek in Salyersville, stands indicted on charges of aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance – greater than or equal to 28 grams of fentanyl (Class B felony); first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, drug unspecified (Class D felony); and possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor).

According to the indictment, Collinsworth possessed a quantity of fentanyl with intent to distribute, as well as a quantity of another controlled substance and drug paraphernalia Feb. 20-21, 2025.

Jeremiah D. Crowder, 42, of Charleston, West Virginia, faces charges of theft by deception, including cold checks between $1,000 and $ 10,000 (Class D felony); second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument (Class D felony); and second-degree forgery (Class D felony).

The indictment alleges that on May 14, 2025, Crowder obtained a check in the amount of $3,792.18 with the intent to deprive the Salyersville National Bank by intentionally creating or reinforcing a false impression as to his intention. Crowder reportedly possessed a forged check and falsely made, completed or altered a written instrument officially issued or created for the Elk Village Apartment, Ltd.

Kristina M. Vanhoose, 43, of Prestonsburg, was indicted on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, drug unspecified (Class D felony); tampering with physical evidence (Class D felony); possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor); driving on a DUI-suspended license, second offense (Class A misdemeanor); and operating a motor vehicle/motorcycle without a functioning ignition interlock device (Class A misdemeanor).

The grand jury alleges that on Sept. 6, 2025, Vanhoose possessed a quantity of Metonitazene, a Schedule I narcotic, as well as drug paraphernalia. The indictment accuses Vanhoose of tampering with physical evidence and operating a motor vehicle while her license was suspended for a previous DUI conviction. Allegedly, the vehicle she was operating at the time of the arrest did not have a functioning interlock device.
