INEZ — Inez High School’s Class of 1951 celebrated its 71st reunion Aug. 13 at the Big Sandy Regional Airport and Cloud 9 Café.
In 1947, the class of 1951 began with 24 girls and 24 boys as ninth-graders. On May 8, 1951, eight girls and 10 boys graduated.
There are six girls and two boys living, and five were unable to attend the reunion.
The reunion began with David Sublette praying. A reading of the names of the deceased followed.
Louise S. Beach read two poems that she wrote about the class reunions.
The group enjoyed the day reminiscing about their high school experiences. Some even talked about their girlfriends and boyfriends. They told stories about things some of the teachers did and things the students did.
Everyone had a good time catching up with their classmates of 71 years ago.
The group decided that due to the age and illnesses of some members, this would be the final reunion.
William R. “Mug” Hardin led a prayer giving God thanks that classmates were able to get together each year for 71 years.
After the meeting, the group enjoyed a delicious lunch served by Cloud 9.
A special thanks to the Doug Hinkle Family for their support of the past reunions, Jerry and Mary McMasters for the pictures of the reunions, and Gary Cox and Lauren Runyon for their support.
