Scarecrow contest returns

INEZ — The scarecrow contest returns to the Harvest Festival this year. The Greater Martin County Kiwanis Club challenges local businesses and residents to build and display scarecrows to celebrate the annual Kiwanis Harvest Festival.

There will be two contests this year – one for business and one for residential entries.

Each contestant must submit a photo of their scarecrow for voting on Facebook.

Voting begins Sept. 12 and ends at 2 p.m. Sept. 17.

Scarecrows should be on display throughout the month of September for the Fifth Annual Scarecrow Stroll.

“The scarecrows have become a wonderful addition to Fall celebrations in our county, and we want to continue their tradition and the cheer they bring,” the Kiwanis Club announced. “Don’t forget to include pumpkins in your display this year as well as we celebrate ‘The Great Pumpkin Harvest.’”

Please send your photos via Facebook messenger or email to kiwanisharvestfestinezky@gmail.com.

The Golden Scarecrow (for the business contest) will be announced Sept. 17, along with the winners of the residential contest.
