Peggy Atkinson

1940—2022

Peggy Jean Atkinson, 81, of D’lberville, Miss., passed away Aug. 11, 2022, at Greenbriar Nursing Center in D’Iberville, Miss.

She was born Oct. 16, 1940, to the late Asbury Smith and Nola Mae Matthew. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Atkinson.

Peggy is survived by one son, Harvey Atkinson Jr. of Meridian, Miss; four daughters, Latricia Ann Atkinson of Meridian, Miss., Shirley Belcher of Hamilton, N.J., Marilyn Jean Franklin of Gautier, Miss., and Brenda Rodriguez of Mississippi; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Diane Steven and Linda Peevey.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2022, at Shepherd of the Hill Mission in Maher, W.Va., with Bo Scott officiating. Burial will follow at the Marcum Cemetery in Stonecoal, W.Va. Friends may visit at the church Monday starting at 11 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
