It’s not too late to register

Stephanie Kilgore, Education major, teaches in Floyd County Schools

PRESTONSBURG — It’s not too late to register for college this fall. Big Sandy Community & Technical College offers another great semester beginning Sept. 12.

During this twelve-week semester, students can enroll in many core courses needed for their specific degrees. Astronomy, biology, computer science, communications, psychology and math are foundational to many degrees for transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

“College seemed like a fairy tale. I thought it was only for people who had money or parents who could afford to help their children pay for tuition,” explained Stephanie Kilgore, who is now entering her third year of teaching in Floyd County Schools.

Stephanie chose Big Sandy because it was close to home, and transfer to Morehead University’s education program was seamless.

Students may also be eligible to attend Big Sandy tuition-free. Through the Work Ready Scholarship, students who are Kentucky residents, those with a high school diploma or students working on their GED, and anyone without an associate degree or higher are eligible, are encouraged to apply for this great opportunity.
