INEZ — Martin County closed out Senior Night with a statement win Feb. 16. The Lady Cardinals rode a 38-point combined effort from Chloe May and Makenna Marcum to a 55-41 victory over Morgan County sending seniors May, Angelina Moore and Sophie Harless out as winners in their final home game at Martin County High School.
Before tipoff, the Lady Cards recognized the senior players along with team managers Raegan Horn and Hallee Preece.

May led the way with 20 points. She drilled three 3-pointers and repeatedly carved up the defense from the mid-range. She was especially effective against the 2-3 zone, knocking down four shots from inside the arc and turning a tight game into a comfortable cushion after halftime.
Marcum followed with 18 points. She buried four 3s of her own as Martin County’s perimeter shooting helped the Lady Cards steadily stretch the lead.
The game was tied 13-13 after one quarter, before Martin County edged ahead 26-23 by halftime.
The Lady Cards then took control in the third, outscoring Morgan County 20-10 to carry a 46-33 advantage into the fourth.
May delivered the biggest punch in the third-quarter surge. She fired in 10 points in the period on four made field goals to widen the gap. Annaleigh Davis added seven points and hit a triple. Maci Maynard scored seven, and Harless connected on a long-range triple as Martin County kept the pressure on throughout the night.

In the closing minutes, the Lady Cards protected the lead by controlling possession, holding the ball for much of the final three minutes to close out the 14-point win.
