Dials sets record with 13 3-pointers as Martin County overwhelms Pike Central

PIKEVILLE — Bryson Dials put on a shooting clinic Feb. 16 in Pike County. The sophomore splashed a school-record 13 3-pointers and finished with 49 points as Martin County overwhelmed Pike Central 113-86.

Dials turned the gym into his personal shooting gallery in a performance that will be talked about for years. He broke the record with ruthless efficiency, going 13-of-19 from deep and 17-of-23 overall. He grabbed six rebounds, dished out six assists and swiped five steals.

Dials and Braxton Keathley turned the night into a track meet, combining for 90 points as Martin County’s offense stayed in attack mode from start to finish.

Keathley backed Dials’ historic performance with an all-around line. He recorded a monster double-double with 41 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Keathley was just as efficient. He went 15-of-19 overall and 8-of-11 from beyond the arc. He had set the school record earlier in the season with 12 triples.

Behind the headline duo, Alan Moore delivered one of Martin County’s strongest all-around support lines with seven points on 3-of-5 shooting, 11 rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Brayden Marcum chipped in three points with a long-range shot and added one rebound, three assists and two steals.

Eli Mills helped orchestrate the offense even without a big scoring total. He nailed a trey and helped out on eight shots with assists. He also grabbed two rebounds and recorded four steals.

Devan Maynard added two points along with two rebounds, four assists and a steal. Bentley Bowman scored two points and grabbed a board. Luke Preece also scored two points and handed out an assist. Rex Ward finished with two points and pulled down two rebounds. Kooper Sturgill converted a shot attempt for two points.

Tanner Jennings and Jayden Yates each contributed one rebound.
