INEZ — Martin County Lady Cards posted a pair of convincing wins at home, rolling past Wolfe County 68-45, Saturday, Feb. 7, and Owsley County 50-26, Sunday, Feb. 8.
In Saturday’s win over Wolfe County, the Lady Cards put three players in double figures and pulled away with steady scoring pressure across all four quarters.
Annaleigh Davis poured in 22 points to set the pace. Makenna Marcum followed with 16 points. Chloe May knocked down two triples on her way to 15.

Maci Maynard chipped in eight, Sophie Harless added four and Lexi Cline buried a 3-ball to round out the scoring.
In the JV nail-biter, Martin County survived a late flurry and slipped past Wolfe County 26-25.
Desirae Gullett dialed up two shots from downtown and finished with eight. Lexi Cline and Alivia Stacy each bagged seven. Anna Hinkle and Bella Robinson added two apiece.
The Lady Cards held on after Wolfe County got three looks in the final 11 seconds but could not convert.
On Sunday, Martin County made sure there was no hangover, turning a slow start into a runaway against Owsley County.

With the visiting Lady Owls trying to drain the clock and forcing Martin County into a zone look, neither team scored until May hit a jumper with 2:29 left in the first quarter.
Martin County led 6-2 after one, then erupted in the second quarter to take a 28-7 advantage into halftime. The Lady Cards carried a 39-20 lead into the fourth and closed out the 50-26 win.
Maynard posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, adding three blocks and two assists. May fired in four 3-pointers on the night, finishing with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a steal. Marcum added 11 points along with three steals, two blocks, two assists and a rebound.
Harless did the work on the glass with 10 rebounds and two steals, scoring one point. Davis contributed five rebounds, four assists and a steal. Stacy and Gullett each grabbed a rebound.

The Martin County JV made it a sweep of the weekend with a 34-14 win over Owsley County.
The Lady Cards’ depth helped seal the sweep.

Gullett knocked down three 3s for nine points. Cline matched her with nine points, Robinson finished with seven, Hinkle scored four, Stacy added three and Kennedy Mills chipped in two.
The Lady Cards have two home 57th District matchups at home this week – Feb. 10 with Johnson Central, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Paintsville, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m.
Coach Robin Newsome’s squad will travel to Wayne County to take on Clinton County in a Valentine’s Day shootout Feb. 14 at 4:30 p.m. The team returns to Inez to host Morgan County, Monday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. The Lady Cards will travel to Pike Central, Tuesday, Feb. 17 for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff, then to Letcher County, Thursday, Feb. 19 for a 7:15 p.m. game.
