Aidan Mann to continue baseball career at UPike

INEZ — Martin County’s Aidan Mann is heading to the next level. He signed to continue his baseball career at the University of Pikeville in a ceremony Jan. 20 at Martin County High School. making his commitment official in front of family, coaches, teammates and supporters.

“We’re excited to get Aidan for the next four years,” Pikeville coach Cody Andreychuk said. “We’re getting a great kid who is very talented.”

A two-way player for the Cardinals, Mann made his mark on the mound. In 17 innings last season, he posted a 1.24 ERA with 16 strikeouts, allowing three earned runs. He finished 2-2 and issued 10 walks while giving up 15 hits.

At the plate, Mann appeared in 13 games and batted .200 with seven runs scored. He drew three walks, was hit by two pitches and stole two bases.

Martin County coach Ethan Osborne praised Mann’s presence and leadership within the program.

“Aidan is a competitor and brings energy to everyone around him and makes them better,” Osborne said. “He’s not only an outstanding player, but his character is what strengthens our program. He displays valuable leadership on and off the field. You’ve earned this. You’ve represented our program with class and pride. Excited to see what this future endeavor has in store for you.”

Mann said the moment reflected years of support and sacrifice from his family.

“I want to say thank you to my mom and dad for being there through every moment and every hard time in baseball, through all the late nights,” Mann said. “I want to thank UPike for giving me this opportunity to play at the collegiate level.”

Mann will join Pikeville after completing his high school career at Martin County.
