1931—2026

Richard Harvey Damron, 94, of Kermit, West Virginia, passed away Jan. 22, 2026.

Born Aug. 20, 1931, he was the son of the late George R. and Nancy J. (Copley) Damron.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Marcum Damron; sisters, Nancy J. Damron (Herman Marcum) and Mary Marcum (John Marcum), and his nephew, William F. Marcum.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Copley) Damron; his stepdaughter, Mary Ann (Herbie) Williamson; grandson, Luke Williamson; great-grandsons, Braxton Farley and Kaden Farley, all of Kermit; stepson, Richard Copley of Ohio; nephews Les (Sue) Marcum, Mike (Peggy) Marcum, and Steve (Rose) Marcum; niece Lois Mullins (Porter Mullins, deceased), all of Columbus, Ohio; a very special granddaughter, Kesha (Josh) Farley of Kermit; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Richard was a devoted husband, grandfather, stepfather, uncle and preacher. He was a proud Korean War veteran and a two-time recipient of the Bronze Star.

Funeral services were held at Callaham Funeral Home in Inez, Kentucky, on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026. Preacher Ken Allen officiated. Burial followed at Yatesville Cemetery in Louisa, Kentucky.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
