Kaydence Raeanne Maynard
2009—2022

Kaydence Raeanne Maynard, 13, of Kermit, W.Va., passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at her home.

She was born April 9, 2009, in Huntington, W.Va., to Haley Armstrong Hodge and Dustin Maynard. There to greet our angel were grandfathers Papa Duke Armstrong, Leonard Vance, who affectionately called her “his little woman,” and Bob Hodge and uncles Karsten Armstrong and Bruce Vance.

In addition to her parents, she was blessed with bonus parents Tyler Hodge and Shae Maynard; the best siblings and protectors, brother Tycen Hodge and sister Ella Maynard; adoring grandparents Daphne and Thomas “Smokey” Armstrong, Kim and John Maynard, Linda Vance, Leona Scott, Tammy Hodge, Debbie Deskins and Barb and Paul Ray Davis. Additional survivors include Jeremy and Wes Maynard and Aiden Armstrong; aunts, Hannah (Chad) Gibson, Tonya Vance and Crystal (David) Stroud, and her puppy, Dash. Kaydence is also survived by numerous great-uncles, great-aunts and a host of cousins who will miss her dearly.

Kaydence touched many lives in her short life here on earth, but none more than that of her devoted mother. Throughout sickness and difficulties, her mother remained steadfast in her total care, love and faith, always paying attention to every detail. Together they shared “Mommy and Me” manicures/pedicures. Her mother was her fashion adviser and lifelong best friend. Kaydence was known for an infectious smile that brightened the days of those around her, and she was a fan of Tug Valley Basketball.

The funeral was Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at the Little Dove United Baptist Church, Belo, W.Va., with Reverend Jimmy Maynard officiating. Burial was at the Brewer-Sartin Cemetery beside her home, under the direction of Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.

Pallbearers included Aiden Armstrong, Jeff Vance, Jeremy and Wes Maynard, Eric Davis and Tommy Preece. Honorary pallbearers included Bradee Vance, Chad Gibson, Austin Vance, Parker Davis, C. Dingess, Ashton and Easton Davis.
