Fern (Moore) Muncy
1954—2026
Fern Muncy, 71, of Pilgrim, passed away Jan. 17, 2026, at home under the loving care of her daughter Michelle McCoy.
Born Aug. 24, 1954, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Estelene Maynard Moore.
Fern is survived by her son, Michael (Pam) Muncy of Louisa, two daughters Michelle (Joe) McCoy of Pilgrim and Grace (Shurlin) McCoy of Warfield, four granddaughters, Amethyst Muncy of Louisville, Libby (Blake) Fletcher of Louisa, Whiteny (Harley) Maynard of Lovely, Hillary McCoy of Warfield, two grandsons, Raymond Blake (Charity) McCoy of Pilgrim and Aaden McCoy of Warfield. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Kayson Fletcher, MadaLine Fletcher and Millie McCoy. She also leaves behind her wonderful friend, Glen Howard, with whom she loved hanging out, riding around the hills, checking on the cattle, eating supper, etc.
Fern had seven brothers and one sister. She is survived by brothers Aaron (Kim) Moore of Lawton, Oklahoma, and John R. (Abigail) Moore of Pilgrim.
In addition to her parents, her sister, Henrietta Moore, preceded her in death. Five brothers also preceded her in death: Milford, Eddie, Lonnie Joe, Lowell and Steve.
Fern loved her family and friends and always wanted to enjoy life and make the best of it. She put everything she had into life; she loved with passion; she was fiercely competitive and wanted to win. When she was mad, she was mad as fire; luckily, she would quench that fire as quickly as it flared. Fern never met a stranger in life. She always wanted to make sure everyone had eaten something, and let me tell you, this place has lost one of the best cooks to ever step in front of a stove.
Fern was a member of our Lord’s church. It is our hope that she will be remembered for the kindness and compassion she showed others, as well as for her beautiful smile and loving eyes. We look forward to being reunited with her one day.
Visitation will be Wednesday Jan. 21, 2026, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Per her request, cremation will follow.
Mullins Family Funeral Home of Warfield is honored to serve the family.
