Martin County Arrest Report

INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Fred Thomas Daniels, 29, of Tomahawk, was arrested Monday in Tomahawk on possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a DUI-suspended license, no insurance and no registration plates. Deputy Chris Kidd reported assisting Sheriff Kirk on a traffic stop on Daniels’ on Route 40. The deputy said the K9 unit alerted on the vehicle, and officers found a case on the passenger seat containing a small bag of crystal substance Daniels stated was crystal meth. Officers also found a glass pipe in the case and a small scale in another case on the back seat.

Jack Bennie Runyon, 53, of Kermit, W.Va., was arrested Monday on Route 40 at the top of Buck Creek Hill on possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. Kidd reported that while assisting unit 79 in a traffic stop on Runyon, Runyon stated he had pain medication in his pocket. Officers found three Gabapentin pills inside an acetaminophen bottle in Runyon’s front pocket.

Clayton C. Ward, 51, of tomahawk, was arrested Saturday in Tomahawk on possession of marijuana. Deputy Chris Kidd reported that Ward’s vehicle crossed the center line and swerved multiple times on Route 1884, and he conducted a traffic stop at Spence Branch. According to the deputy, Ward stated that he threw a joint out the window in the curve. The deputy contacted the K9 unit, which alerted at the driver-side door. Officers found one marijuana cigarette under the seat.

James R. Maynard, 41, of Inez, was arrested Saturday in Inez on a bench warrant. Kidd made the arrest.

Edward E. Marcum, 54, of Crum, was arrested Saturday in Inez on a warrant out of Lawrence County. Constable Bradford Preece made the arrest.

Kathy Fletcher, 48, of Inez, was arrested Thursday in Inez on a bench warrant. Kidd made the arrest.

Michael Farley, 44, of Inez, was arrested July 27 in Inez on third-degree burglary. Sheriff Kirk made the arrest and reported that Farley cut the lock off a vacant building on East Main Street and was living inside.
