INEZ — A man accused of wearing only his birthday suit to take a dip in a pool at a gated Inez residence is now wearing jail attire after his arrest Sunday.
Austin Lee Maynard, 28, of Inez, was arrested about 8 p.m. after surveillance video captured him swimming naked, drinking sodas from the refrigerator in an outdoor kitchen area, and letting two dogs out of a building.
No one was home when Maynard entered the grounds, and his presence went undetected until the homeowner got a security system alert.
Sheriff John Kirk arrived at the location to find a sunburned, nude Maynard lying on the floor inside the pool building. The sheriff said Maynard appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, had slurred speech and moved about slowly. He allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana.
Upon further inspection, the sheriff discovered that Maynard had vandalized the pool house, tossing the contents of two cabinets onto the floor and flooding the floor while attempting to water the two dogs.
Maynard’s charges include second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree indecent exposure and public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol). He is in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
