INEZ — Forty kids showed up at The Rock for the youth football camp hosted by the high school football team July 19.
President Joshua Horn, high school coach Josh Muncy and his assistants, and football players worked on drills.
The players had four stations where they rotated and worked on tackling, defense, catching and running.
The high school players had their regular practice before hosting the youth camp.
“We had a good hard practice in the heat today,” Coach Muncy told youth players. “They’re still sweaty, tired and dehydrated, but they wanted to stay to help you guys. They like working with you. I had an awesome time today. Once you get to be a part of football, you’re part of the Cardinal football family for life.”
There will be third- and fourth-grade and fifth- and sixth-gradefootball teams. K-2 will be flag football.
Most games will take place before the middle school football games. The team will compete with teams from around the region.
“It will be a good learning experience for them,” league president Josh Horn said. “They will learn the plays that the high school uses and begin their development. We start them early to prepare them for our system.”
Anyone who missed signups can still contact Horn to play youth football.
