Lois Jean Maynard
1942—2025

Lois Jean Maynard, 83, of Russell, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, at the Martin County Healthcare Facility.

She was born Sept. 20, 1942, in Martin County.

Lois Jean was an accomplished seamstress who held several patents for medical devices that she manufactured and sold.

She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Virginia and Harlan Horn; her husband, Raymond Leon “Butch” Maynard; one son, Rodney Leon Maynard; and a brother, Alvin Davis.

Survivors include her son, John Phillip Maynard and his wife, Amanda; granddaughters, Savannah Rae Maynard, Kyndal Grace Maynard and Malea Ashley; a sister, Diana (Roy) Penix; a brother, Mitchell (Jeanne) Horn; and a special family friend, Sandy Wells.

She was a longtime member of the Wurtland Church of the Nazarene.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2026, at the Callaham Funeral Home in Inez.
