Back to School Bash
Family Resource Youth Service Center director Marlena Slone invites all students to pick up free school supplies at this year’s Back to School Bash from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 29. The event, sponsored by FRYSC and the Martin County Ministerial Association, will take place behind the Martin County Courthouse.
“It’s for all ages, elementary through high school,” Slone said.
Businesses or groups who want to give out supplies must bring their own tables and chairs or a canopy if they wish.
The theme for this year’s event is “Carnival,” and sponsors are asking participants to decorate their table/space. The best-decorated table will receive prizes.
Slone says handing out candy/treats at the event is always a welcome bonus.
Vendors should plan for 800-1,000 students.
Slone and organizers will meet this week to review the list of supplies already committed.
“Pencils, erasers, glue sticks, loose leaf paper, small hand sanitizer, and binders are some of the things we always need,” said Slone.
Organizers also accept monetary donations to use toward supplies for the event.
“You would need to specify that you want it divided equally between all five schools,” said Slone. “Or you can specify one school for your donation.”
