1952—2025

Verladene (Setser) Carter, 73, of Tomahawk, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Dec. 16, 2025, following a brief illness.

Born Feb. 10, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Saddie (Wells) Setser.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant son, Bruce Phillip Carter; five brothers, Buford, Homer, Rolland, Edgar and Virgil Jr.; and five sisters, Anna Bell Perry, Elvie Daniels, Deloris Litton, Geneva Ramey and Judy King.

Survivors include her loving husband, Bruce Carter; one son, Willie Carter; one daughter, Andrea Carter; two grandchildren, Willie Bruce Carter Jr., and Lillian Carter; one sister, Lucille Whitt; and a host of nieces and nephews who adored her.

She was also loved dearly by her church family at Davisport Freewill Baptist Church, where she attended for many years. She was very strong in her Christian beliefs. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Brian Crum officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Louisa. Friends may visit the funeral home Friday, Dec. 19 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
