INEZ — Martin County Fiscal Court presented a Heart of the Community Award to the family of the late Carmel Cline, a social worker and longtime recovery advocate.

Cline served as the Martin County CARES Program Recovery Resource Manager until her passing in early November.

Accepting the award in the Nov. 20 Fiscal Court meeting, Cline’s mother, Anna Mary Stafford, said she was proud of her daughter.

“She worked very hard to get where she was,” Stafford said. “And I just pray that some of her mentors can carry that torch on for other people. Bless this county and bless the opioid epidemic—that it diminishes—and God bless us all.”
