John Albert Spears
1934—2025

John Albert Spears, 90, of Long Branch in Lovely, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 13, 2025, at the Pikeville Medical Center.

Born Dec. 3, 1934, he was the son of the late John B. Spears and Victoria Chafins Spears.

John was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Warfield. He was a proud soldier of the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Wilma J. Spears; a son, Tommie Spears; brothers Bill, Earl, David and Gene; and sisters Pauline and Irene.

Survivors include his children, John (Pam) Spears of Columbus, Ohio, Gregory (Amy) Spears of Warfield and Tabitha (Brenda) Hall of Lovely. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Masonic rites were performed Sunday by the Warfield F&AM Lodge 822. Funeral services took place Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at the Warfield Church of God with Robbie May officiating. Burial followed at the Spears Family Farm on Long Branch. Mullins Family Funeral Home of Warfield is honored to serve the family.
