Residents who need to renew their driver’s license or upgrade to a Real ID before the busy holiday travel season will have an extra opportunity this weekend.

All Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Driver Licensing Regional Offices will open Saturday, Nov. 1, from 8 to 11:30 a.m., offering walk-in service with no appointment required. The regional offices are open one Saturday each month to accommodate residents who cannot visit during regular weekday hours.

The Real ID is necessary for air travel and access to federal facilities.

Officials noted that the Kentucky State Police administers driver and permit testing services, which are not available at the regional offices.

All regional locations are open on one Saturday each month.
