INEZ — Nikki Moore has accepted the head coach position for the Martin County High School Cheer team.
Moore was a varsity cheerleader for Sheldon Clark from 1999 to 2003. She competed in the Kentucky Association of Pep Organization Sponsors (KAPOS), Kentucky State Fair and at King’s Island.
Moore was born and raised in Martin County and is the daughter of Dale and Kim Smith. She resides with her husband, Ryan Moore, and her three children, Chase, Hunter and Chloe.
The Community Work Transition Program Employment Specialist at Martin County High School, Moore will work alongside her sister, Jackie Maynard, who she selected as her assistant coach.
Maynard cheered from K-12 in the Martin County school system and competed all four years of high school.
“I hope to be able to take the squad to competitions. I am excited for the opportunity to do something that I personally loved doing,” Moore stated.
Coach Moore will be holding a clinic and tryouts at MCHS next week. The clinic will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. July 18 and 19, and tryouts will be 10 a.m.-noon July 20.
She encourages students in grades 9-12 to try out. Physicals are required before participation is allowed.
