KERMIT, W.Va. — The Town of Kermit celebrated the season Saturday with its annual Kermit Fall Festival at Kermit Park, a day filled with family-friendly fun, food, music and community spirit.
The event kicked off early with the Second Annual Peggy Moore Memorial Run/Walk. Later in the morning, the festival parade rolled through town, led by Grand Marshal: the family of the late Fire Chief Hawkey Preece.

At the park, visitors enjoyed a full lineup of activities, vendors and food stands.
One highlight was the Paws in the Park Pet Show, sponsored by Dapper Doodle of Louisa, Kentucky, which returned to the festival after several years’ absence. Pet owners registered under the park shelter for the crowd-favorite competition, with proceeds benefiting local animal shelters.

Live music brought the festival atmosphere to life, featuring Jack & The Postmen and The Donnie Blevins Band.
Councilwoman Tammy Preece Hodge expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the day a success.
“All that attended enjoyed themselves,” she said. “I know numerous kids that are going to sleep good tonight.”
She extended special thanks to the Kermit Volunteer Fire Department, Police Chief Roger Johnson, Mayor Sparks, town employees, vendors and volunteers.
“Now on to Christmas in the Park,” Hodge said, as the town looks ahead to its next community celebration.
