Carma (Fletcher) Jude Sweeney
1941—2025

Carma (Fletcher) Jude Sweeney, age 84, of Inez, passed away Oct. 8, 2025, at Highlands ARH in Prestonsburg.

Born Aug. 10, 1941, in Inez, she was the daughter of the late Shadle and Lizzie (Dye) Fletcher.

In addition to her parents, Carma is preceded in death by her first husband, Jeff Jude, her second husband, Benny Sweeney, one daughter, Barbara (Delbert) Sweeney, 11 siblings, one grandson, James Anthony “Bear” Jude, one great-granddaughter, Alexis “Lexie” Jude, one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Castle and two sons-in-law, Ronnie Ratliff and Everett Lee Sweeney.

Carma is survived by three sons, James Arthur (Shannon Goble) Jude of Lawrence County, Richard Hayes (Norma Jean) Jude of Martin County, and Wallace (Tammy) Jude of Lawrence County, two daughters, Norma Jean (Anthony) Blevins of Johnson County and Shirley (Michael Scott) Ratliff of Wayne County, West Virginia. She is also survived by three brothers, Crease (Dolly) Fletcher and Edgar (Mary) Fletcher, both of Martin County, and Herbert (Edna) Fletcher of Lawrence County, two sisters, Ruby (Willard Maynard) Fannin and Wanda (Johnny) Jude, both of Martin County, one daughter-in-law, Creasy Jude and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services took place Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at the Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Richard Boyd officiating. Burial followed in the Jude-Fletcher Cemetery in Pilgrim. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crum Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
