School lockdown downgraded

CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

DELBARTON, W.Va. — A lockdown Monday morning at Mingo Central High School was downgraded to a “soft lockdown” after authorities determined there was “no credible threat,” according to the Mingo County Board of Education.

The BOE said in a social media post that entry and exit from the building would remain restricted “for safety reasons” while law enforcement continued its investigation.

A precautionary lockdown was first announced at 10:04 a.m. Monday when the BOE reported that officers were on site and actively investigating a verbal threat made against the school.

“The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority,” the post stated.

Officials have not released additional details about the nature of the threat or the investigation.
