INEZ — A Martin County woman is facing multiple drug charges following a traffic stop Friday on Rockcastle Creek Road.
Martin County Sheriff John Kirk charged Danese Deon Chaffins, 34, of Inez, with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance first degree (hydrocodone), possession of a controlled substance first degree (cocaine), and two counts of possession of a controlled substance in the first and second degree for unspecified drugs.
According to the arrest report, Kirk stopped Chaffins after she repeatedly crossed the center line even after he activated his blue lights. Chaffins allegedly showed signs of impairment, admitted to vaping THC and failed a field sobriety test.
A search of her vehicle turned up a paste-like substance in a glass jar, marijuana in a pouch on the driver’s seat, and a plastic bag containing 42-1/2 hydrocodone pills.
After her arrest, Chaffins allegedly attempted to conceal additional drugs by stuffing something into her underwear.
Upon arrival at the jail, corrections officers retrieved a baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.
