Christians believe that Jesus is the only way God has provided for mankind to be saved from the curse of sin. What about those who would say, “There can’t be just one way. That can’t be. What about those who sincerely believe in these other religions? What about them? If I believe in my religion, isn’t that enough?”
This question becomes a question about the character of God. Let me give you an example of the character of God. God cannot sin and God cannot lie. We all know that about God, but did you know that God cannot be confused and cannot cause confusion? The Bible says that God is not the author of confusion. Let me explain why this is important.
Everyone knows that there is absolute truth in mathematics. Two plus two is always four. Everyone knows that there is absolute truth in physical science. Gravity…what goes up must eventually come down. God gave us these truths so that creation can have order. Why is it then that most people accept these truths as absolute but believe that there is no absolute truth in the matter of spiritual things?
If God has given us order in our world, why would He not give us order in spiritual things? How confusing would it be if two plus two would be five sometimes? How could we build buildings? How could we make automobiles? How could we invent machines that help man if mathematics could not be absolutely true all the time? What would happen if the law of gravity was not consistent? Total confusion.
