MCANDREWS — A 14-year-old was killed Friday evening in an off-road vehicle crash in Pike County, according to the Kentucky State Police.
Troopers at Post 9 said they were notified at about 7:11 p.m. of a single-vehicle accident on a trail near Pinsonfork Road. A 2021 Can-Am UTV carrying two juveniles had overturned.
The passenger, a 14-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County coroner. The driver, also a juvenile, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition was not immediately released.
Trooper Brennan Eckart is leading the investigation. He was assisted by State Police Post 9 personnel, the Upper Pond Creek and Belfry volunteer fire departments, and Appalachian First Response Ambulance Service.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
